This kit has been prominently displayed on the 2012 Scion Tuners Challenge 3rd place finisher, Daniel Song’s Scion FR-S GT and several other vehicles making the rounds at the automotive shows. The Vortech Supercharger kit will come in two variants, the Vortech Tuner Supercharger Kit for $4299 and the Vortech Complete Supercharger Kit for $5699.

Both kits will come with the Supercharger, Intercooler, all applicable piping, housing and couplers, belts, pulleys and miscellaneous attachement hardware. The difference between the “Tuner” and “Complete” kit will be the fuel management and tuning, with both assigned to the later package. The Tuner package makes a nice entry level supercharger kit and allows for customization and upgrading at will, while the Complete supercharger kit completes the product lineup with a calibration unit and all necessary fuel components.

Vortech is an innovative leader in the force induction market with a wide array of Supercharger kits for various sport compact vehicles, domestic ‘muscle’ cars and SUV’s. Vortech Supercharger kits are designed with optimal hardware and exacting specifications for fitment and performance. One of the best features of Vortech Supercharger kits, particularly in its relevance to the Scion FR-S and Subaru BRZ, is the ‘stock’ looking matte black finish that keeps with the original look and feel of the look under the hood. Many of the superchargers and turbo kits on the market use polished piping, colored housing and unfinished metal components that seem to give off a cheap look. With the Vortex Supercharger, the kit blends in well with the stock parts and seems to exude a more confidence inspiring look, of course this is subjective to the user.

The Scion FR-S and Subaru BRZ supercharger kits are manufactured in an OEM fashion with many specifications made to meet or exceed those of the factory itself. These Superchargers are designed to meet the balance of high performance and real world driving conditions as well as to meet emissions standards on most models. The Vortech Supercharger kits are designed to give a massive horsepower upgrade to the Scion FR-S and Subaru BRZ without compromising quality or user friendliness. The Scion FR-S Vortech Tuner kit is a great product that allows tuners a wide range of upgrade possibilities by leaving fuel management kits out of the equation for custom upgrading per the customers desire. The complete kits are designed more as a ‘turn key’ option for the common enthusiast looking for some serious horsepower without having to delve head on into a complex set up.

Power: We are still awaiting some dyno charts showing the horsepower gains on base models, however we are expecting to see somewhere in the range of a 20-30% increase.

Other details: The installation time of the Scion FR-S & Subaru BRZ Vortech Supercharger kit is estimated at 5-6 hours. The type of supercharger used in the Scion FR-S supercharger kit is ‘centrifugal’. The Vortech supercharger kit uses an innovative design that retains the stock ram air intake from the front of the grill area and feeds air into the intake box provided by Vortech and located in the same area as the factory air box.
